Strengths & Risks
The part most sites skip — both sides, from the RHP.
- Rare profitable consumer-tech — PAT jumped ~142% in FY26 (₹22 → ₹104 Cr in two years) on ~45% revenue growth; profitable since FY23.
- Fat margins and high returns — EBITDA margin ~41.5%, PAT margin ~27%, RoNW ~43.5%.
- Scale and reach — subscription furniture/appliance rental across 29 cities, 82 experience stores, 20 warehouses, ~2.54 lakh active subscribers.
- Strong grey market and demand — GMP firm at ~₹130–138 (~32–34%) and the book surged to 9.72x on the final day (NII ~26.3x, retail ~7.7x).
- Supportive sector sentiment — recent new-age listings (Meesho, Urban Company) debuted at strong premiums.
- Very large offer-for-sale — ~88% of the ₹1,256 Cr issue (₹1,106 Cr) is early investors exiting; only ₹150 Cr is fresh capital for the company.
- Rich valuation — ~40.7x post-issue P/E; the price prices in continued rapid growth.
- Asset-heavy, capital-intensive model — rental relies on the value, utilisation and re-rental of returned furniture/appliances; residual-value and impairment risk.
- Rising debt (debt/equity ~0.63) and reliance on continued subscriber growth and low churn across cities.
- Founder holds a low ~20% stake; demand is strong (~9.72x on the final day, though QIB is still only ~0.84x and bids at the Sep 11 close), and reported rental profit is sensitive to asset-capitalisation and depreciation policy.

Should I apply for Rentomojo IPO?
Our view: Apply · Subscribe
In simple terms, Rentomojo rents out furniture and home appliances on subscription across 29 cities, and unlike most new-age startups it actually makes money — and a lot more of it: profit jumped about 142% last year on about 45% revenue growth, it keeps a large share of each rupee as profit, and it earns a high return on equity. The grey market is firm too, pointing to a listing gain of around 34%, and demand was very strong — the final book closed at about 72.88 times overall, with the big institutions ~177 times, wealthy investors ~68 times and retail ~15.6 times. The things to weigh: the shares are priced richly (about 41 times earnings); nearly all of this issue (~88%) is early investors selling rather than money for the company (only ₹150 crore is fresh); and renting out physical goods is capital-heavy, with residual value and re-rental always a risk. On balance the strong, profitable growth, firm grey market and healthy demand make it look worth applying for — just size it knowing the rich price and big investor exit leave less margin for error.
